Finish at the Christkindlmarkt by the cathedral (until 1 January); the car drops you in the old town.

- •Wednesday to Sunday only: the Wolfgangsee markets close on Monday and Tuesday, Hellbrunn on Mondays. Exception: Tuesday 8 December, when all of them are open.
- •Daylight is short, so the markets come last – they are at their best after dark.
- •Dress warmly and wear good shoes; Hallstatt's lanes can be icy.
- •After 20 December or on Christmas Eve, ask Ronald for the Salzburg markets instead.
